If you can teach people to dance, play an instrument, cook or do yoga, all while having fun – you might be what the QEII Seniors and Community Centre is looking for!
The City of Greater Geraldton’s much-loved facility is currently seeking expressions of interest (EOI) for the delivery of weekly and monthly workshops, programs and activities for seniors and people with disabilities.
Based on the previous success of programs, the City is seeking interest from providers to deliver programs which include drumming and Zumba – but is also seeking proposals for alternative community orientated programs or workshops such as yoga or music.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn encouraged people to submit their interest in what would be a very rewarding and fun experience.
“After spending countless hours at the QEII Centre and seeing many of the different activities, I can say it is such a wonderful place to be for both patrons and those delivering the various classes,” he said.
“The facility and programs run from it make such a difference in the lives of many of our community members so if you think you might be someone who can deliver an activity, ensure you submit an EOI.”
Since opening in 1986, the QEII Centre has grown to accommodate an average of 2,600 monthly participants who engaged in 38 different programs which focus on social, physical and mental wellbeing.
The popular programs are coordinated by a passionate and dedicated team of staff and volunteers who strive to empower seniors, carers and families with the knowledge to make informed decisions as they age and to stay active as long as possible.
While the City is currently looking for proposals for drumming classes and Zumba, those who may have ideas for other suitable workshops are encouraged to submit a proposal. With a busy program, there is limited space for new activities.
All EOIs must be submitted by 5pm Wednesday 28 June 2023.
