Key Infrastructure Projects

The City builds a number of new Capital Works projects and undertakes a variety of facility upgrades or refurbishments every year.  These infrastructure projects offer residents and visitors better services, amenities, facilities and experiences unique to the Greater Geraldton region.

In the 2016/17 financial year the City will be investing a record $78 million in building and renewing infrastructure which will directly impact upon jobs and growth.

Whilst this is a record investment, the City and Council are focusing spending on new capital infrastructure for projects that will deliver transformational impacts on our economy or are vital to preserve and maintain our lifestyle.

More than $46 million of our new capital investment relates to two very important projects that meet both of these criteria.  The Beresford Foreshore Protection and Enhancement Project and the upgrading of the Geraldton Airport Runway.

Although the Beresford Foreshore Project has recently received funding from the State Government and is currently under construction, the airport upgrade project is still wholly contingent on funding from other levels of government for its implementation.

Other Key Infrastructure Projects in this financial year include:

Council continually reviews its purchasing policies and practices to ensure that local businesses and residents within our community benefit from the construction of Key Infrastructure Projects.
