Training

The DFES (HMA) Bushfire Centre of Excellence has developed a range of online training courses designed for anyone who may be involved in responding to a fire. These courses support safe and effective operations by ensuring all personnel understand the fundamentals of working in a fire environment.
Under the State Hazard Plan – Fire, section 3.4, all response personnel operating on a fireground must be trained to a standard that meets or exceeds the minimum requirements recommended by the Hazard Management Agency (HMA). A fireground is defined as “the area where response activities are undertaken to mitigate the hazard of fire that has the potential to cause a threat or harm to the health or safety of responders.”
