Swimming Lessons

The Aqua Play, Toddler and Pre-school classes are not just about learning to swim; it offers you and your child awareness of the safety required around water. These classes provide exciting and positive bonding experiences for parent and child, and are a fun environment to develop social skills and meet other people.

Below is a guide to assist in understanding which level to enrol your child.

Swim school infant aquatic guide

The Comprehensive “Learn to Swim” Program offers:

Mother/Parent & Baby Lessons:

Infant aquatic classes are for children between 6 months and 3 years of age. They provide water familiarization for the infant and parents, through fun, games, and songs.


The Pre-school classes provide water familiarization, confidence, and focus on learning through fun and games.

School Aged:

The School Aged Swimmers focus on stroke development and more intense water safety skills.

Super Sharks:

Super Sharks is about bridging the gap between lessons and joining a swimming club.

Junior Lifeguard Club

For children aged 8-15 to keep interested and active in aquatics, especially quick learners and those caught between levels and programs. A fantastic opportunity to further develop swimming skills at the same time as developing new and challenging lifesaving skills.

Aquarena Torpedos:

Training squad for adults, teens and older children wanting to improve their endurance and technique. Perfect for water polo players, surfers, surf life savers, triathletes and long distance swimmers. Swim between 2-4km, and also do cross training for water sports as well as land based strength and conditioning exercises to improve swimming performance.

Adult Lessons:

Adult Lessons are programmed for non- swimmers through to stroke correction. The classes are structured to suit the needs of our clients. Please see reception for further enquiries

Adult Stroke Correction:

 Focusses on improving technique for average to more advanced swimmers including those training for long distance events such as Triathlons. This class will also assist you in improving speed and endurance and give you drills to work on outside of class.

Third and subsequent students recieve a 10% discount on their term fees.

The following is included in the cost of the lesson.

  • Entry fee and lesson for the swimmer
  • Entry for a non-swimming spectator or parent pool entry if they are required to participate in the class.

Enrolment/Payment Process

  • Enrolment Forms and time tables can be downloaded  from the link above
  • Complete the Enrolment form
  • Existing student can enrol in the last two weeks of the term.
  • New enrolments can be done in the last week of the term
  • A non-refundable $50 deposit needs to be paid to secure a place within the week of booking.
  • Full term fees to be paid in full by the end of week two or lessons possibly cancelled.
  • Email to at any time. Over the counter enrolments are taken at the Aquarena Foyer during opening hours.

Priority is given to existing students. Every attempt will be made to accommodate your preferences, however this cannot always be guaranteed.

Once your child has been placed into a class, a confirmation email will be sent to you containing the stage, the day and time of the lesson and the name of the teacher conducting the lesson. Please contact the Aquarena if a confirmation letter has not been received within one week.

Public Holidays

The Aquarena swim school does not conduct lessons on public holidays. This is factored into the term fees.

Entry cards

An entry card is issued at enrolment and can be collected from reception on the day of your child/children’s first class. Entry cards must be scanned at the main entrance prior to every lesson. A lost card will attract a $3.00 replacement fee.

Parental Supervision

It is a requirement that children under the age of 10 be accompanied by a parent or guardian whilst at the centre. A parent or suitable guardian must deliver and collect the student from their lesson. No child under the age of 10 will be allowed to walk over to a parent or guardian. Children under the age of 5 who swim before or after their lessons must be accompanied in the water and within arm’s reach of a parent or suitable guardian at all times. This is a requirement under the Watch around Water program set in place by the Royal Life Saving Society.


Requests for refunds must be made in writing to the City of Greater Geraldton Aquarena and will only be granted if the family is relocating outside the City of Greater Geraldton area. A 20% fee will be incurred for refunds.

Credits will only be given for medical reasons and are only valid for the following term. A doctor’s certificate must be submitted to the City of Greater Geraldton Aquarena.


Any parent wishing to take photographs or videos of their children whilst in the centre must obtain approval from the co-ordinator or duty supervisor prior to taking images.
