Foreshore activation on the menu

It will not be long until the community can have a coffee and snack whilst enjoying the Beresford Foreshore following Council’s approval of two food and drink outlets along this popular stretch of coastline.

Local operator Yard Bar + Co will set up their mobile Coffee Kombi Van at the Dean Street node serving coffee and small snacks, weather permitting, from Wednesdays to Sundays; and new business operator AJ’s, will be serving high quality European snacks such as Bratwurst and Belgium waffles, gourmet coffee, smoothies and locally made cakes seven days a week from a sea container or transportable structure at Midalia’s Beach.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said Council’s decision to approve these lease and licence applications responds to the community’s growing desire for food services at the beach.

“Every time I visit the Beresford Foreshore people ask when they’ll be able to buy a coffee, ice cream or some chips,” he said.

“Soon they’ll be able to do just that and then enjoy their refreshments while they continue to take in the views, chat with family and friends or watch their kids play in the playground.”

The CBD Foreshore will also be further activated with water sports business Skyline Hydrobikes receiving Council approval to operate at City Beach during the summer months.

“It’s great to see more businesses, especially new ones to town, identifying the potential our Foreshore areas have to offer,” Mayor Van Styn said.

“A second water sports business in this area will enhance tourism and vibrancy whilst adding to the economic vitality of our community.”

Pending the outcome of the statutory minimum 14-day public comment period and required Ministerial approval, all three businesses are planning to open as soon as possible.
