Artists in Western Australia are invited to submit new works for the Mid West Art Prize as it returns to Geraldton Regional Art Gallery (GRAG) later this year.

Returning for the eighth time, this biennial event exhibits the diversity, quality and innovation of artworks currently being created in the state, with substantial prize monies to be won.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn urged artists to submit their work.

“The Mid West Art Prize is a fantastic event that we all look forward to,” he said.

“We are thrilled to provide creatives with a pathway to showcase their recent work.

“All artworks in the show are of the highest calibre and have never been exhibited before, making this an exhibition not to be missed.”

The Mid West Art Prize has five categories:

  • City of Greater Geraldton Overall Award for Excellence (Acquisitive)
  • Aboriginal Arts Award
  • People's Choice Award
  • Mid West Artist Award
  • Youth Award

A Gala Opening Night will launch the exhibition on Saturday 9 December and details of sponsors will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Mid West Art Prize is open to artists working in any medium and resident in Western Australia.

All entries must be submitted by 4pm Friday 8 September and can be submitted online by clicking here.
