About the position:

This is a casual pool position for the Youth Development team. The role of Casual Youth Worker is to provide recreation and leisure, information, support and referral services for young people in the City of Greater Geraldton. Additionally this role will be guided by the Youth Development team with the day to day running of youth engagement projects, including setting up and the closing down, administration, cleaning, reporting and running of engagement projects as well as one on one mentoring and support for young people.

Key accountabilities:

  • Organise and run programmed and ad hoc sports and recreation activities.
  • Engage and establish rapport with young people who participate in programs.
  • Provide young people with information and support, equipping them with the resources to gain greater control over life situations.
  • Provide young people with positive experiences and opportunities, which enhance their strengths and develops self-worth.

Position requirements:

Successful applicants will ideally have relevant qualifications and experience for the position, however the City will consider all applications and provide necessary training. Applicants with a genuine passion for working with young people are strongly encouraged to apply.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

An hourly rate up to $33.44 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
