About the position:
The Gallery Officer is responsible for providing effective support to ensure the ongoing effective delivery of day-to-day operations of the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery (GRAG). The Geraldton Regional Art Gallery seeks to foster, promote and enhance an understanding and appreciation of the visual arts throughout the broader community. The Gallery Officer provides assistance in all aspects of administration and customer service, as well as assisting with the installation and de-installation of temporary exhibitions, delivering education packages, providing tours, and promoting creative projects via social media.
This position is offered on a part-time basis of 50 hours per fortnight for a fixed term period of 4 years, ending 30 June 2027.
Key accountabilities:
- Attend to Gallery reception duties, providing friendly, responsive and customer focused service.
- Assist with the installation and de-installation of temporary exhibitions at the GRAG and tasks associated with exhibition launches.
- Assist with the promotion of arts and creative projects, including the regular updating of the GRAG website and social media.

Position requirements:
The successful applicant will ideally have previous experience in an administrative role in an office environment, preferably in the arts sector, with experience following best museum practice in handling art works, including installing and de-installation of exhibitions, highly advantageous. In additional, sound computer skills along with comprehensive interpersonal and team work skills are required.
Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.
Remuneration and benefits:
A salary starting from $65,720 per annum (pro-rata) or $33.25 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
