About the position:

The Director of Corporate & Commercial Services is a critical leadership role within the City.  The role is responsible for executive functions, policy and strategy development, and the optimum operation of the Department (financial, quality and people). The Director must demonstrate modern leadership knowledge and skills across the four branches within the department; Corporate Services, ICT Services, Economic Development and the Geraldton Airport.

Key Project accountabilities:

  • Management of the October Local Government Elections, including training of new Councillors.
  • Management of the Deliberative Democracy Project including assisting with the outcomes from the project - Review of the City’s Strategic Community Plan and ten-year capital works program.
  • Replacement of the City’s core corporate software.
  • Leading organisational wide compliance with any changes resultant of the Local Government Act 1995 review.
  • Implementation of the revised Growth Plan.
  • Implementation of the Visitors Centre Review.
  • Development and implementation of an improved OHS system.
  • Promoting alternative Airport revenue streams including but not limited to international passenger and freight services, flight training schools and the Business Park.
  • Pursuing the maintenance of current levels of airline service and fares and assisting government funding agencies with financial modelling for regional airports.
  • Establishing a framework for succession planning with a focus on building internal capacity of up and coming leaders within the City.

Position requirements:

The successful applicant will have operational and strategic experience as a Senior Manager / Executive in a similar role at a large Local Government, Government Department, or mid-to-large scale private sector company, managing a professional team.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

This role is offered as a five (5) year fixed term negotiated contract. A salary package of up to $207,117.00 per annum will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
