About the position:

This position will assist the City’s Development Compliance team to ensure the City’s obligations and functions are carried out in a legal, professional and efficient manner and ensure the development industry complies with relevant local government, town planning and building legislation.

Key accountabilities:

  • Respond to general enquiries/complaints (personal, written or telephone) relating to development compliance.
  • Investigate breaches (alleged or otherwise) of either town planning, building or local government legislation.
  • Routinely monitor and inspect development across the City.
  • Assist with the implementation of Council resolutions and provide regular reports to the Coordinator Development Compliance on progress of action.
  • Assist and contribute towards the identification, development, implementation and review of guidelines, policies and procedures in relation to development compliance.

Position requirements:

The successful applicant must have an understanding of the issues related to development in regional Western Australia (especially in the Mid-West region), as well as developed knowledge and appreciation of relevant development legislation within Western Australia.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary starting from $60,646 per annum or $30.6914 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
