Great news for those who love to swim at the Foreshore as works to install new changing rooms and a storage facility adjacent to the Rubik’s Cube toilets are scheduled to begin next week.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said the project reflects Council’s dedication to listening to the community and enhancing the Foreshore as a key recreation destination.
“The Geraldton Foreshore is much loved by our community and it’s essential we have facilities that add to the user experience and compliment the space,” he said.
“Following a petition from a local swimming group, two refurbished 10-foot sea containers that will be decorated with public art at a later date, are being installed as new changing rooms and a storage facility for our beach accessibility equipment.
“It’s great to see a practical, cost-effective solution being delivered that will benefit ocean swimmers, families, visitors and local businesses alike.”
One container will be fitted out with lockers and two unisex changing cubicles allowing people to change privately and safely store their belongings while enjoying the Foreshore.
A second container will be used as a secure storage facility for the beach wheelchairs and beach matting.
The existing beach shower will also be moved closer to the new facilities for the convenience of users.
Both structures will be located along the path that connects the beach with Rubik’s Cube toilets and the Foreshore Promenade.
Site works will begin the week of Tuesday 27 January 2026. The estimated date of completion is April 2026.
