Mullewa is set to step in the spotlight with an action-packed winter season now officially underway.

Starting with the massive Mullewa Muster and Rodeo that was held over the WA Day long weekend, the winter season sees an influx of visitors to the town.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said it is a great time to visit the region.

“The Mullewa Muster and Rodeo is always a fantastic event to kick off the tourism period with and this year was no exception,” he said.

“But it’s not just major events like the Mullewa Muster or the Mullewa Agricultural Show and Outback Bloom that are contributing to the town’s growing vibrancy.

“There are plenty of workshops, activities and activations taking place every day that are revitalising the town.”

The Mullewa CRC has been busy hosting Kids Create art workshops and has first aid courses scheduled for June.

Recently, NBNco hosted a town hall session at Helen Ansell’s Art Gallery to discuss plans to connect the town to fibre to the premises (FTTP).

At the last meeting, Council also approved the development of a 40-bed camp on Lover’s Lane designed for long haul truck drivers to rest and recuperate.

“However not everyone can make it to Council meetings, so I made sure I took some time to speak with the Mullewa community directly,” Van Styn added.

“It’s amazing what you can learn by taking a casual stroll along the main street and popping in to say g’day.”

Topics raised by residents included the Mullewa transfer station, City WiFi availability, the condition of some verges, public BBQ’s and more.

City officers are investigating the concerns raised and will action where appropriate.
