Mullewa’s Youth Centre will continue to play a vital service in the local community after a recent extension of financial support from the State Government.

The Department of Communities announced a one year extension in addition to current funding, allowing the Youth Centre to remain open until at least 30 June 2026.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said the funding was critical to keeping the Youth Centre open and operating.

“Many young people in the region visit the Centre as an after-hours drop-in service as it provides a safe and welcoming environment.”

“Thanks to this funding, young people are guaranteed access to a variety of engaging programs and activities, as well as the continuation of the Mullewa Youth Service.”

“In addition to offering a variety of entertaining activities, the centre gives young people in the community access to learning critical life skills and developing new interests through school holiday programming.”

“On behalf of the City I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Department of Communities for continuing to fund both the Centre’s staffing and activities during the school breaks”, added Mayor Clune.

Sandra Carr MLC - Member for the Agricultural Region was excited to continue the funding of such a deserving facility.

“I am pleased the Cook Government is providing this support for our youth.

“Funding projects such as the activities delivered at the Mullewa Youth Centre ensures we provides opportunity to positively engage with young people, keep them safe, and assist them to develop new skills.

“I commend the City of Greater Geraldton’s commitment to delivering this services for Mullewa‘s young community members.”
