You’ll soon spot a lot of familiar locations and landmarks on your TV as Geraldton features in Nine’s travel and lifestyle series ‘Winter Escapes’.
Airing on Channel Nine on Friday 13 July, Winter Escapes will take viewers on a road trip from Perth to Kalbarri, stopping in at some of our local hotspots.
Made possible through the collaboration between the City of Greater Geraldton and Australia’s Coral Coast, this initiative is part of the strategy to build Geraldton’s profile as a holiday destination of choice.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said Geraldton was becoming an increasing popular holiday spot, especially in the winter months.
“We know that locations in WA’s south are popular but in winter Geraldton boasts beautiful sunny days and temperatures over 20 degrees,” he said.
“There’s not too many places in the world where you can still go for a swim at the beach in the middle of winter.
“Winter really is one of the most beautiful times to visit our great coastline.
“It’s great to see Geraldton and our neighbouring towns promoted as part of Australia’s Coral Coast to people all over Australia and I hope our locals will get on board and check out the show also.”
TV personality Carmen Braidwood presents the episode which features the unique Abrolhos Islands and the stunning Pink Lake.
Geraldton’s West End café and shopping strip also makes an appearance along with a focus on history with the Geraldton Museum and HMAS Sydney II Memorial.
Adding to the Geraldton highlights, our Midwest neighbours Dongara, Horrocks, Port Gregory and Kalbarri also feature.
The show will air thanks to the generous support of local businesses and organisations, all members of Australia’s Coral Coast including Shine Aviation, Jaffle Shack, Latitude Gallery, Yamatji Art Centre, Geraldton Museum and The Gerald.
The Winter Escapes episode featuring Geraldton will air at 7:30pm on Friday 13 July on Channel Nine.
