Ongoing investment in the suburbs this financial year continues with upgrades to Forrester Park in Waggrakine nearing completion.

Project works included the replacement of the aged playground equipment along with upgrades to the existing basketball court and skate park.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said representatives of the local community were involved in the decision making for the new playground equipment.

“After meeting with the Waggrakine-Glenfield Progress Association to discuss upgrades to Forrester Park, Council decided to include a range of improvements to the public open space in the 2019/2020 Budget,” he said.

“City staff then met with the group to discuss various playground options available to replace the aged equipment that had reached its end of life.

“The feedback the group gave us was very positive and we were able to order the equipment they chose in the colours they requested.”

Waggrakine-Glenfield Progress Association President Dillon Godden said he very was pleased to be part of the decision making process.

“It was fantastic to work with the City on the project and to have a say on the playground equipment,” he said.

“We were able to select playground equipment that feature a variety of options, will be useable for all ages of children and entertain them all for many years to come.

“I would like to thank all the association members involved in the Forrester park upgrade, the City of Greater Geraldton and contractors involved.”
