Local businesses are enjoying the taste of success for their commitment to food safety after earning five stars in the City of Greater Geraldton’s 2023 Five Star Food Safety Awards.

Aussie Pastries and Gone Fishin’ at Sunset both went above and beyond in the comprehensive inspection to end up on top for 2023.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune congratulated all the businesses in town that were awarded five stars.

“The Awards help the community to identify local businesses that continuously execute excellent food safety hygiene practices,” he said.

“In order to be awarded five stars, strict safety protocols must be met and adhered to. Both Aussie Pastries and Gone Fishin’ at Sunset have exceeded these expectations.

“It is fantastic that we are able to celebrate these businesses and shine a light on the result of all their hard work in maintaining the highest standard of food safety.”

The Star Rating System ranks businesses from three to five stars, based on rigorous hygiene standards.

This criterion has seen 235 businesses in the region awarded a perfect five out of five stars.

Customers can identify a company’s score by looking for a sticker advertising their official star rating for 2023.
