Horizon, one of the community’s most loved public art pieces, has been disappointingly vandalised.

The City of Greater Geraldton has reported damage to local Police and are currently reviewing CCTV footage.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune expressed his frustration and disappointment.

“As we know - Horizon is loved by our community and tourists alike, so it is extremely disappointing to see it vandalised,” he said.

“We could say Horizon has become one of our local icons and it adds a great deal of vibrancy to our community.

“The City will do everything we can to repair the damage and get the stunning piece back to its original state.”

The acrylic 1.5m sphere was designed by artist Lucy Humphrey and installed in 2019.

After experiencing a structural failure and vandalism in previous years, CCTV footage was installed in the area to increase safety.

Anyone who knows anything about the damage is encouraged to report it to local Police.

The City will provide repair updates when available.
