Greater Geraldton 2031 Draft Strategic Community Plan, the blueprint for delivering the community’s vision for the future of Greater Geraldton, has been released for public comment.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said the plan reflects the City’s understanding of the needs of the Greater Geraldton community as a result of 24 months of extensive engagement with residents.

“As part of a major review of the 2017 Strategic Community Plan the City conducted over 100 surveys, citizen juries, workshops and information sessions which asked the community about the services we provide, projects we undertake and what the priorities for the future of Greater Geraldton should be,” he said.

“We listened to the more than 10,000 people who participated in these activities and have revised the community plan to reflect their aspirations.

“Some of the most important things the community said we need to focus on in the coming years include building economic resilience; increasing tourism; improving waste management; addressing the impacts of climate change; celebrating our cultural heritage and history; striving for equality and access for all; and restoring and protecting our natural environment for future generations.
