Greater Geraldton is gearing up for a full day of family fun this Australia Day.

Promising something for everyone, numerous events will be taking place along the Geraldton Foreshore as well as at the QEII Seniors and Community Centre and Doc Docherty Pool in Mullewa.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune is looking forward to seeing the community come together for the occasion.

“Australia Day is about connecting and honouring our diverse history,” he said.

“As this is an emotive day for many in our community, careful consideration has been put into planning to ensure an inclusive and respectful event.

“A particular highlight for me is always celebrating our Community Citizen of the Year Award nominees as well as welcoming our newest Australians.

“I also look forward to catching up with seniors at the Rotary Club afternoon tea and concert at the QEII Centre before heading down to Stow Gardens on the Foreshore for live music, delicious treats from the food trucks and plenty of family-friendly fun,” Mayor Clune added.

Events along the Geraldton Foreshore will commence at 7.30am with the Champion Bay Challenge Swim followed at 8am by a kid’s beach party, market stalls and the Aussie Icons Car Show.

Geraldton’s event will feature live performances at Stow Gardens from 4pm with a Welcome to Country from David Ronan followed by performances by Heading Home, RnB Soul Train, The Frauds and Shmoné.

New activities for 2025 include Ricochet Circus workshops, as well as Bundiyarra Irra Wangga language workshops in the morning and Shah’s custom art station in the afternoon.

The event will culminate with the Europcar WA Fireworks Show scheduled for 8.30pm - weather permitting. Updates will be provided regarding any changes to the fireworks via the City’s Facebook page.

In Mullewa, community members will be able to hang out at the Doc Docherty Pool from 7.30am where there will be a free barbecue breakfast followed the Community Citizen of the Year Awards.

The Australia Day event on the Geraldton Foreshore is an alcohol-free event that will take place on Monday 26 January from 7.30am – 9.00pm.

The Citizenship and Community Citizen of the Year Awards Ceremonies will take place at the QEII Centre between 10.30am - 12.30pm on Monday 26 January.

The City of Greater Geraldton would like to thank valued sponsors Europcar WA and the National Australia Day Council.

The full Australia Day 2026 programme as well as the nominees for the Community Citizen of the Year Awards are available to view on the City’s website.
