10.30am - 12.00pm Citizenship and Community Citizen of the Year Awards Ceremony

2pm - 4pm Free afternoon tea and concert for seniors.

Community Citizen of the Year Award Nominees 2026

Community Citizen of the Year

Isabel Ross –For her outstanding leadership in mental health promotion and suicide prevention, founding Beachlands Community Incorporated to strengthen neighbourhood connections and contributing her expertise to health initiatives locally and internationally.

Sarah Forsyth – For her long-standing commitment to supporting youth through 20 years of service as a councillor and community worker and her volunteer contributions to local sport and health initiatives.

Soumya Hari Kumar – For her dedication to promotion Indian culture through teaching classical dance in Geraldton, engaging children and adults in performances and volunteering at community events to foster cultural connection.

Rohan Prowse – For his tireless efforts to connect and strengthen the Geraldton community through initiatives such as the Friday Circulars newsletter, volunteering at events and leading activities that foster inclusion and wellbeing.

Beven Anderson – For his commitment to supporting vulnerable community members through his professional role and volunteering with Scouts and Midwest Charity Begins at Home, fostering youth development and providing assistance to families in need.

Neal Robson – For his dedicated volunteer work as president and secretary of the Geraldton Greenough Rifle Range.

Active Citizenship

Walkaway Community Group – For their outstanding efforts in fostering connection and inclusion by organising events in Walkaway such as the ANZAC Day commemorations and the Long Table Christmas Lunch.

Senior Community Citizen of the Year 

Don Rolston – For decades of service to Geraldton through roles such as City Councillor, championing projects such as the HMAS Sydney II Memorial and continuing to advocate for better health services as a Geraldton Regional Hospital board member.

Max Correy – For 35 years of leadership as Chair of the Geraldton Cemetery Board, driving major improvements including a new crematorium, condolence lounge and memorial garden, and leaving a long-term plan to serve the community for decades to come.

Lorraine Chapman – For inspiring creativity and confidence through her writing workshops for children, adults and seniors. Mentoring local writers for the Big Sky Festival and fostering health and social connection by coordinating a women’s ocean swimming group.

Young Community Citizen of the Year

Mina Elliott – For her passionate advocacy for the environment through founding and leading the Geraldton Australian Youth Climate Coalition, organising clean-up events, recycled art workshops and mentoring young climate champions.

Mullewa - Senior Community Citizen of the Year

Beverley Crudeli – For her long-standing contribution to the Mullewa Arts and Craft Society, maintaining the craft centre, creating patchwork quilts for fundraising and supporting the Mullewa Agricultural Show and Mullewa Football Club through dedicated volunteer work.

Peter & Beverley Crudeli – For decades of service to the Mullewa community, with Peter mentoring youth through karate and football for over 40 years, and Beverley providing essential health care as Mullewa’s permanent nurse, volunteering as an ambulance officer and leading senior housing initiatives.
