A rare invitation awaits art lovers when Geraldton Open Studios and Surrounds (GOSS) returns for 2026, inviting visitors to discover the Mid West's creative heart through a series of behind-the-scenes studio experiences.
Taking place across nine days, this free, self-paced experience opens the doors of art studios and galleries from Geraldton, Dongara, Greenough, Mullewa and Northampton, with 30 sites taking part.
Geraldton Open Studios and Surrounds founder Emmaline James said the experience – now in its third year - has come a long way since launching in 2023.
“After a short break, it feels especially good to be opening the doors again. The time away has given us the opportunity to build on what people already love about GOSS,” Ms James said.
"Visitors can expect to discover everything from household names to exciting collaborative projects, all opening their doors to the public.
"The introduction of our digital platform has made it easier than ever for people to plan their experience.”
Each studio sets its own opening hours, viewable on an interactive on the digital platform, making it easy for visitors to plan their own itinerary.
In addition to the free studio experience, a full program of events and workshops will run throughout the week.
An Art Gala Evening will officially launch GOSS 2026 with an evening of art, live music and light projections alongside participating artists and the wider creative community.
The Emerging Artist Market on Sunday 27 September will showcase the work of up-and-coming artists from across the region.
Three Behind the Studio Doors bus tours will offer a more intimate look inside local studios, giving visitors the chance to meet artists in their creative spaces and learn more about their work and processes.
The program also includes the first Artist Slide Night, bringing artists and audiences together for presentations and conversation about their work and creative practice.
A variety of artist-hosted workshops will also take place throughout GOSS, giving visitors opportunities to get hands-on and learn directly from local creatives.
