Integrated Transport Strategy (Closed)

The City has developed a Draft Integrated Transport Strategy (ITS). The ITS addresses transport objectives of the City's Strategic Community Plan 2013 – 2023 including:

  • To support and promote the City of Greater Geraldton to become a walking and cycling friendly city;
  • To improve independence and connectedness for the transport-disadvantaged.
  • A modern, integrated, appropriate and well-used public transport system;
  • To support and improve the movement of freight to, through and within the City;
  • To create the transport networks to support and enhance the City as a tourist destination;
  • To create a road hierarchy that is capable of efficient vehicle movement while reducing the potential adverse effects of traffic flow; and
  • Sufficient parking to be provided for residents and visitors.

The purpose of the ITS is to provide a ‘blueprint’ for prioritised investment into transport infrastructure for the community. The City needs an ITS to guide expenditure on integrated transport assets and to clearly communicate these priorities to internal and external stakeholders.

The City is interested to hear your thoughts on the ITS:

  • What aspects of the strategy do you agree with?
  • What do you think needs further improvement?
  • Is there anything that is missing from the strategy?
  • Are there any general comments you’d like to make about the strategy?

If you have any feedback, please complete the  Submission Form and return it to the City by close of business Thursday 11 June 2015.
