Notice of Intention to Impose Differential Rates

In accordance with section 6.36 of the Local Government Act 1995, the City of Greater Geraldton hereby gives notice of its intention to impose differential rates for each rating category in the 2026-27 financial year. Details of the proposed rate charges are as follows:

The proposed rates-in-the-dollar and minimum payments are based on estimates at the time of giving public notice and may change as part of Council’s 2026-27 budget deliberations or to comply with specific provisions of the Local Government Act 1995.
Submissions are invited from electors and ratepayers in respect of the proposed rates or minimum payments and any related matters within 21 days of this notice.
Submissions must be received by 5:00pm on Friday 29 May 2026, and may be:
• mailed to the City at PO Box 101, Geraldton WA 6531; or
• submitted by email to CityBudget2026-27@cgg.wa.gov.au
A Statement of Objects and Reasons for each proposed rate and minimum payment has been prepared and is published on the City’s website – City Budget 2026-27 and may be inspected at the following locations during normal business hours:
• Civic Centre Administration Centre, 63 Cathedral Avenue, Geraldton.
• Mullewa District Office & Library, Cnr Thomas & Padbury Street, Mullewa.
• Geraldton Regional Library, 37 Marine Terrace, Geraldton.
Council will consider all submissions received, and any other relevant information that will impact upon estimates of revenue and expenditure, current economic climate including forecasts of inflation and changes in Commonwealth or State Government appropriations and charges prior to setting the rates and minimum payments. Council will also consider the impact of new UV valuations, which will take effect from the 1 July 2026.
