Construction on the foreshore Youth Precinct Redevelopment is set to begin later this month, marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of one of Geraldton’s most popular recreational spaces.
Following extensive community engagement, the redeveloped Precinct will feature a skatepark, trampolines, parkour course, zipline, shaded seating areas, swings and a renewed Rage Cage.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said the project demonstrates the City’s commitment to creating safe, inclusive and appealing places for young people.
“It is vital that our younger residents have welcoming places to go where they can connect with friends and enjoy free activities,” he said.
“We worked closely with young people throughout the process ensuring their ideas and feedback helped shape the Masterplan and final design.
“This upgrade supports wellbeing, helps young people stay active and will create a community asset we can all be proud of.”
Minister for Local Government, Disability Services, Volunteering, Youth and Gascoyne the Hon Hannah Beazley BA MLA said the government is committed to investing in the well-being of young people.
"Creating safe and inclusive communities where young people can connect, be active and feel a sense of belonging is a key priority of the Cook Labor Government,” she said.
"This redevelopment will provide a modern, welcoming space designed with young people, for young people in Geraldton and those visiting, will support health, wellbeing and social connection."

Opened in 2016, the Youth Precinct has experienced significant wear and tear due to coastal conditions, prompting the City to refresh the space.
In early 2024, high school students, stakeholders and the broader community were invited to help design an active destination that reflects the needs and aspirations of young people aged 12 to 25.
The resulting Masterplan incorporates feedback gathered across multiple rounds of engagement, including workshops with local high school students, stakeholder meetings and community consultation.
Local contractor Crothers Construction has been awarded the contract. Construction is scheduled to begin the week of Monday 27 July 2026 and will take approximately six months to complete.
The $4.73 million project has received major support from Lotterywest who is providing a grant of $1,707,300 to complete the works.
