Encouraging visitors to stay a little longer in Geraldton and explore the awesome hospitality scene is the focus of Visit Geraldton’s newest tourism marketing campaign “Stay and Play.”

Aiming to attract travellers to Geraldton for a long weekend via Nexus Airlines, the campaign will entice visitors from the northwest to spend more time here and enjoy the many experiences on offer.

Additionally, locals are being encouraged and rewarded to get involved by sharing what they love about the region.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said Geraldton is the perfect hub for families and couples wanting to visit and experience the Midwest.

“Whether it’s our world-class Foreshore, stunning coastline or inviting weather – Geraldton is not only the perfect place for families but also for couples wanting to experience our incredible food scene, culture and so much more,” he said.

“Our campaign will focus on distributing high impact destination marketing content across multiple channels and collaborating closely with our partners at Australia’s Coral Coast and Nexus Airlines.

“We are also urging Geraldtonians to get involved by entering the Stay and Play Photography Competition, which invites people to submit the perfect shot that illustrates why families should come and experience our amazing city.”

The in-depth marketing campaign will have a heavy focus on traditional and digital marketing across various mediums, targeting travellers specifically in the northwest to also further activate the flight link between the Midwest and Northwest.

Efforts are already underway with airport advertising in Karratha and Broome, and Geraldton having a presence at the recent Perth Caravan and Camping Show.

Submissions from the Stay and Play Photography Competition will be selected to be used as destination marketing content.

There are some amazing prizes up for grabs:

  • First place - $1,500 Nexus Airlines voucher
  • Second place - $1,000 Buy Local Greater Geraldton Gift Card
  • Third place - $500 Buy Local Greater Geraldton Gift Card

The Stay and Play Photography Competition is open until 4pm Monday 30 June.

Tourism marketing falls under the economy pillar of the City’s Strategic Community Plan which reflects the organisation’s commitment to Geraldton being a desirable place to live, work, play, study, invest and visit.
