For those who are out to rock, Battle of the Bands is back with new awards, new opportunities and plenty of reasons to join in.
Back with a fresh format, Battle of the Bands provides musicians with the opportunity to appear in front of a live audience, compete for cash prizes and connect with fellow musicians.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said he is amped to see Battle of the Bands return with three new prize categories and an engaging series of workshops.
“Battle of the Bands always provides a rocking good time, and this year will be no different,” he said.
“I am particularly excited for the musicians who embrace the chance to fine-tune their skills prior to the event as part of the Music Development Program hosted by Regional Sounds.
“If you are an aspiring musician or simply looking for a band to join, I encourage you to head along to the Muso Mixer at Regional Sounds then battle it out on stage.”
This year, competitors will vie for the title of Overall Winner and Best Youth Band, while three new award categories have been introduced to recognise outstanding musicianship, stage presence and positive participation.
The new categories are:
- Tightest Rhythm
- Best Stage Energy
- Spirit of the Bands
The Battle of the Bands Muso Mixer will take place from 5-7pm Saturday 29 August 2026, at Regional Sounds, where the Battle of the Bands Development Program will also be launched.
The program will be held on the following dates:
- Wednesday 9 September 4-7pm
- Wednesday 23 September 4-7pm
- Wednesday 7 October 4-7pm

Battle of the Bands is a free, all-ages event and will take place at the Queens Park Theatre on Sunday 15 November 2026 from 12-4pm.
