Local seniors will be celebrated with a full program of diverse events during Seniors Week 2018.

Back for another year, the ever-popular Seniors Week will run from 11-17 November by the City of Greater Geraldton’s Queen Elizabeth II Seniors & Community Centre in conjunction with a number of local organisations.

All of the much-loved activities will return including the Mayor’s Mystery Bus Tour, entertainment at the Queens Park Theatre (QPT) along with a number of classes, ‘have-a-go sessions’, games, sports and heaps more.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said Seniors Week was a favourite in the community’s calendar.

“Seniors Week continues to get bigger and better each year and that’s because our local seniors love it,” he said.

“This event is all about celebrating and acknowledging the amazing contribution our seniors make to the community.

“If you’re a senior and haven’t attended Seniors Week in the past, I’d urge you to have a look at our jam-packed program of events – there is something for everyone.

“I’d also like to thank local businesses for supporting and embracing this initiative,” Mayor Van Styn added.

The first Seniors Week activity will kick off on Saturday 3 November with Friends of the Queens Park Theatre presenting the film, The Englishman Who Went up a Hill.

Mayor Van Styn will officially open Seniors Week on Sunday 11 November at the QPT with a show from The Flaming Galahs.

The following week will include a number of activities including a printing workshop, cooking lessons, a quiz about historical Geraldton, outdoor bowls, have a go at ukulele and badminton. Football West will also launch walking football/soccer.

The Mayor’s Mystery Bus Tour will take place on Monday 12 November from 9am, bookings are essential.

All bookings can be made and tickets purchased on weekdays at the QEII Centre.

Program booklets can be picked up from the QEII Seniors & Community Centre on Durlacher Street and Maitland Street, various City venues or downloaded from the City’s website at www.cgg.wa.gov.au
