Women on Wheels Geraldton is back next month with a new format and a new route.
This inclusive trip along the coast from Stow Gardens to Sunset Beach celebrates active travel, our local cycling paths and International Women’s Day.
City of Greater Geraldton Deputy Mayor Natasha Colliver is thrilled to see the event returning to the Geraldton Foreshore.
“It’s fantastic to see Women on Wheels return and I’m always excited to participate,” she said.
“This year is shaping up to be even better with the theme this year being an ‘explosion of colour’ as well as the option for participants to stick around and indulge in a gourmet grazing box at a long table lunch with live music from Anne Williams.
“So, grab your bike, scooter, roller skates, skateboard or pram, throw on something fabulous, pop on your helmet and join the fun!”
Women on Wheels is open to anyone and will take place on Sunday 8 March from 10.30am.
The 16km journey will start under the pines at Stow Gardens and continue to the Sunset Beach Carpark on Swan Drive before going back to Stow Gardens where everyone will receive a free drink from the coffee van.
Riders are urged to go at their own pace stopping along the way for breaks and selfies, those who share their journey on social media are encouraged to use the hashtag #womenonwheelsgeraldton and tag the City of Greater Geraldton.
Women on Wheels Geraldton is part of the City’s Active Travel Program which has been generously 50% funded over three years by the Department of Transport.
The City would like to thank the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure, Your Move, Healthway and WestCycle for helping make this event possible.
Women on Wheels Geraldton is a free event; the accompanying Long Table Lunch is $15 for adults and $10 for those under 16 years.
Tickets for the Long Table Lunch are available until 4:30pm Wednesday 4 March via Humanitix.
Those wishing to take part in the ride must also register via Humanitix.
