Rates payment options for Pensioners and Seniors

With rates time just around the corner, ratepayers are being reminded that there are payment arrangement options available.

Ratepayers who hold a Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card or a WA Seniors Card can pay their upcoming rates by instalments with no additional fees and no penalty interest.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said he understood not everyone could afford to pay full rates in one hit.

“We have payment options for Pensioners as we know in some cases it isn’t attainable to pay rates in full all at once,” he said.

“There are alternative options that can be provided and any pensioners or seniors who may need help should contact the City Rates department.”

If any eligible Pensioners and Seniors are experiencing financial hardship and are not able to pay their rates by any of the options listed on their rates notice, they are encouraged to contact the City Rates department.

For Pensioners and Seniors to be eligible for the State Government concession, the net due amount shown on the rate notice must be paid in full prior to the end of the financial year or the rebate will be lost.

Various rates payment options are available including online, telephone, Bpay, in person, mail, direct debit or at any Australia Post agency.
