Volunteers make such a positive contribution to our community and now is your chance to recognise them as nominations are open for the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Awards.

The joint initiative between the City of Greater Geraldton and Centacare Family Services celebrates and acknowledges outstanding volunteers, volunteer managers, volunteer-involving organisations and volunteer-involving events within the city.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said he encouraged the community to make a nomination.

“There are so many great events, initiatives and local groups that add such value to our city and many of them are run by volunteers,” he said.

“This is the perfect time to recognise those volunteers and say thank you for all the hard work they do to make our community what it is.

“There are so many deserving volunteers so I hope you nominate one today.”

The Awards have five categories: Volunteer of the Year, Youth Volunteer of the Year (under 18 years), Volunteer Manager of the Year, Volunteer Involving Organisation of the Year and Volunteer-Involving Event of the Year.

Nominations close 5pm Friday 9 November.

All nominees will be invited to attend the Volunteer of the Year Award Ceremony on Wednesday 5 December at the Queens Park Theatre Amphitheatre.
