Aspiring musicians will have a chance to show Geraldton what they are made of when Battle of the Bands returns for the third year on Sunday 27 October.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn encouraged aspiring bands and individual musicians to sign up for the competition.

“If the last two years is anything to go by, we are going to have an absolutely ripper competition on our hands,” he said.

“There are some fantastic prizes on offer this year, including $2,000 cash and a chance to play live at an event next year for first place, as well as prizes in other categories.

“You don’t need to be an established band to enter, so head to the City’s website and register today.”

As with previous years, a tailor-made space is available for individual musicians to come down and form a band with other participants.

The space is located at 201 Lester Avenue and is open every Friday from 5-7pm at no charge. Experienced musicians will also be on site to mentor participants.

Places at the studio are limited so interested musicians are encouraged to put their name down as soon as possible.

Established bands are also welcome to enter the competition and have a crack at taking home the title.

Battle of the Bands is set to take place on Sunday 27 October from 12-4pm at Queens Park Theatre Amphitheatre.

Registration forms for both individuals and established bands can be found on the City’s website at cgg.wa.gov.au
