The City of Greater Geraldton’s recent investment in GRAMS Reserve has been generously supported with a $530,000 grant from Lotterywest.

The funding will be used to construct a skate park, scooter track and basketball half court and install lighting which will enhance the recently upgraded footpaths and playground equipment whilst catering for older children.

The Parks Level of Service and master planning project completed in 2019 identified GRAMS Reserve as being a priority for upgraded facilities. The project is an outcome of ongoing efforts by the City to provide sustainable and equitably distributed recreational facilities.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said the investment was long overdue and the result will be a game changer for the suburb.

“The massive improvements to the park will not only help bring it up to the District Park standard it should have, it will change the entire look and feel of the area for the local community,” he said.

“I’d like to thank Lotterywest for recognising the importance of this project to the Rangeway, Utakarra and Karloo community.”

“Their generous grant funding means the City will be able to deliver the additional project elements in one go rather than spreading the costs over a number of financial years.”

Ongoing collaboration with community stakeholders will inform the development of detailed designs.
