The Queens Park Theatre (QPT) continues to provide arts and culture for all residents thanks to ongoing support from Lotterywest grant funding.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said over the past 28 years Lotterywest grant funding has enabled the QPT to present a variety of shows to people from all walks’ of life.

“Since 1990, Lotterywest has supported the QPT to deliver its services and annual program by providing 38 grants valued at more than $1.3 million,” he said.

“Thanks to their continued support, which includes $66,556 in grant funding we recently received, the City will been able to maintain a commitment to culturally enriching, challenging and diverse content which would not otherwise be economically viable.

“The grant funding also enables the City to subsidise ticket prices for a variety of shows which will ensure all residents have access to a range of shows, concerts and performances which offer stimulation, entertainment, educational and inspirational experiences that contribute to their overall quality of life.”

To ensure show content is timely and shows will be well attended, QPT staff collaborate with other City teams. This involves providing school holiday programming that is aimed at a cross section of school students, booking shows based on books in the Library and to develop programs such as Morning Melodies for seniors.
