From twinkling lights to creative Christmas scenes, Geraldton’s businesses brought the magic this holiday season as they competed in the Jingle through Geraldton Christmas storefront competition.

Held for the first time the competition invited CBD businesses to decorate their shopfronts which were then voted on by the community.

The winners of the competition were as follows:

  • 1st place: The Coastal Cove - Premium business branding photography package valued at $2,500.
  • 2nd place: Ivy Vibe - Buy Local Greater Geraldton Digital Gift Card valued at $1,500.
  • 3rd place: The Plant Life - Mid West Chamber of Commerce & Industry membership + marketing pack.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune congratulated all the winners and thanked the community for embracing the initiative.

“Supporting our retailers and nurturing a festive atmosphere that brings people together is a key priority for us over the holiday season,” he said.

“It was fantastic to see so many of our local businesses get on board with this new initiative and decorate their storefronts, as well as have so many people vote for their favourite.

“A huge thank you to all the businesses and community members who got involved and I look forward to seeing the competition return this Christmas.”

Mid West Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. CEO Joanne Fabling highlighted how important the festive period is for retailers.

“The Christmas period is a critical trading time for all businesses, and this season we were particularly pleased to highlight this opportunity for our retail businesses,” she said.

“Initiatives like Jingle through Geraldton encourages people to look to shop locally first whilst creating a more welcoming and vibrant city centre.

“We were pleased to partner with the City of Greater Geraldton in a competition that celebrated creativity and supported our business community, and we look forward to supporting “Jingle through Geraldton” again for the next festive season.”

The Coastal Cove business partners Anik Schuster and Tayla Jones said they were thrilled to take out the top spot.

“We were over the moon to find out we won the competition,” they said.

“Something we are forever grateful for is the communities support for our business since opening 16 months ago and winning this competition just shows the support from the community we have received.”

Community members who voted have gone into the draw to win one of three $100 Buy Local Greater Geraldton Gift Cards with winners to be notified soon.
