Have your say on the Rangeway Pump & Jump track

Residents of Rangeway, Utakarra and Karloo are invited to have their say on a pump and jump track to be built in the area in the coming months.

The City is seeking feedback from the community on the preferred location of the track, either Levy Street Park or Clematis Park, and how to make the facility a great place for families to visit.

A Drop-In Information Session regarding the project will be held on Wednesday 30 October 2019 from 3.30pm-6pm at the Levy Street Community Hall.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said building recreational facilities in residential areas is important to the wellbeing of the community.

“Pump and Jump tracks are fantastic facilities that can be used by people of all ages,” he said.

“Bike riding is great exercise and with the nearest bicycle recreation facility, the Wonthella Skatepark on Eighth Street, more than 2kms away, it just makes good sense to build a pump and jump track in the heart of Rangeway, Utakarra and Karloo.”

Rangeway Utakarra Karloo Progress Association President Corryne Bull said the idea for a formalised pump and jump track came about following the opening of the Spalding Park track in 2018.

“The Spalding Park facility is amazing, but too far away for our children to use,” she said.

“So we worked closely with the City to see if bicycle recreation facilities could be built here and Council not only agreed, they included the construction of a pump and jump track for our area in this year’s Budget.

“The only thing that needs to be clarified is where it should be built and if there is any money left in the budget once construction is completed, what else could be put in place to make it family friendly.”
