From daily bike rides, traveling on wheels and everything in between the community is invited to help shape the future of active transport through the review of the Geraldton 2050 Cycling Strategy.
Led and funded by the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (DTMI), the review will help identify gaps in the City’s cycling network, opportunities to improve safety and accessibility and ways to make bike riding an even better option for getting around and staying active.
The updated Strategy will also align with DTMI’s new regional approach which will also identify opportunities to strengthen cycling connections between shires in the Midwest region.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said community feedback plays a vital role in shaping future cycling projects and priorities.
"Bike riding is much more than a way to get from one place to another," he said.
"It supports physical and mental wellbeing, encourages people to spend time outdoors and helps bring communities together.
"Whether you're a regular rider, jump on a bike from time to time, or would like to cycle more often, we'd love to hear from you.
"Tell us where paths are missing, what connections could be improved and share your ideas on how we can make riding a bike safer, easier and more enjoyable for people of all ages and abilities.
"Local knowledge is incredibly valuable and will help us continue building a cycling network that works for our community and encourages more people to get out and enjoy everything Greater Geraldton has to offer,” he added.
Since the Geraldton 2050 Cycling Strategy was adopted in 2018, the City has delivered a range of cycling infrastructure projects prioritised by the community including the Railway Street Safe Active Street, shared paths from Sunset Beach to Drummond Cove, Bellimos Drive to Yallalong Entrance and the African Reef Path Upgrade.
Community members interested in having their say can drop-in and chat to the project team on Sunday 23 August 2026 at the following locations:
- Platform Markets from 8am-12pm
- Midalias Beach on the Beresford Foreshore from 1pm-4pm

This review aligns with the Liveable theme of the City’s Strategic Community Plan which reflects the organisation’s commitment to improving active transport opportunities.
