Residents and businesses are invited to help shape Greater Geraldton's economic future, with the draft Economic Development Plan 2026-2030 now open for public comment.
Strengthening Greater Geraldton's position as the Midwest's regional capital while ensuring economic growth creates lasting benefits for the community is the focus of the document.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said the Plan provides a realistic direction for the City's economic development efforts and identifies where local government can have the greatest impact.
"Major investments, population growth and significant projects are helping to build strong momentum across the City region, creating new opportunities for our community," he said.
"This Plan is about making sure we're ready to capitalise on those opportunities by supporting local businesses, advocating for critical infrastructure and housing, attracting investment and helping ensure growth delivers real benefits for our community.
"Through extensive consultation with regional stakeholders, we heard a clear message that people want a City that is investment-ready, supports business growth and takes a practical approach to challenges such as housing, workforce shortages and infrastructure constraints.
"We know the City can't solve every challenge on its own, but we can help bring the right people together, back local opportunities and advocate for the investment our region needs to continue growing,” he added.
Community members can view the draft Plan and provide feedback via the City's website here.
Paper copies of the draft Plan and feedback forms are also available at the Civic Centre, with submissions closing at 9am on Monday 26 October 2026.
This Plan aligns with the Thriving theme of the City’s Strategic Community Plan which reflects the organisation’s commitment to an economically diverse and prosperous City.
