Community groups, clubs, not-for-profit organisations and individuals are encouraged to bring their ideas to life, with the City of Greater Geraldton now accepting applications for its 2026/27 Community Grant Funding Programs.

Designed to enhance community wellbeing, the recently revised Community Funding Programs offer financial and in-kind support for projects, activities and initiatives that benefit Greater Geraldton.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said the updated Community Funding Guidelines make it easier for applicants to understand the support available and determine which funding stream best suits their project.

"We recognise and appreciate the incredible work our community groups, clubs and volunteers do to strengthen the social fabric of where we live," he said.

"As part of our review, we've introduced improvements aimed at simplifying the funding process while creating new opportunities for community members to access support.

"Importantly, the updated guidelines have expanded opportunities for applicants who may not have previously been eligible.

"For example, individuals can now seek support through the Rapid Response Program, while the Community Events Program has been broadened to consider events held outside our local government area where there is a demonstrated benefit to our community," finished Mayor Clune.

Community Grant Funding opportunities 2026/27 include:

Community Initiatives Program:

• Supports projects and activities that strengthen community connections and wellbeing
• Up to $5,000 or 50% of project costs
• Open year-round, assessed quarterly

Community Events Program:

• Supports community-led events that foster a vibrant and connected community
• Up to $10,000 or 50% of event costs
• Open year-round, assessed quarterly

Sporting Facilities & Equipment Program:

• Supports sporting facility upgrades, maintenance and equipment purchases
• Up to $10,000 or 50% of project costs
• Open year-round, assessed quarterly

Rapid Response Program:

• Supports initiatives and opportunities outside other funding program timelines or criteria
• Up to $3,000
• Open year-round, assessed on receipt

Community In-Kind Assistance Program:

• Assists with venue and equipment hire costs for community activities
• Up to $10,000 in hire fee waivers
• Open year-round, assessed on receipt

Festival and Event Funding Program:

• Supports major events that attract visitors and deliver economic benefits
• Over $10,000
• Available by invitation only

Service Agreement Program:

• Supports organisations that deliver services or manage facilities that would otherwise be the responsibility of the City
• Up to $35,000
• Available by invitation only
