Another impressive literary line-up has been locked in for the ever-popular Big Sky Readers and Writers Festival 2020.

With the theme “Feed the mind, nourish the soul”, the event will take place in Geraldton from 1 to 4 October with an exciting list of local and West Australian authors, illustrators, storytellers, poets and musicians.

The official programme launched this week and City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn commended the Geraldton Regional Library on collating another exciting event.

“The Big Sky Readers and Writers Festival is a really unique event in our calendar, and one that I know many look forward to each year,” he said.

“It continues to grow in prestige and we can see that with the amazing calibre of guests who have been chosen to be part of it.

“The beauty of this Festival is its wonderful variety and the way it celebrates so many facets of literature.”

Running the event, the Geraldton Regional Library will host the Festival Opening Night, book talks, workshops, a Literary Brunch and Language Luncheon, a Poetry Night, plus children’s activities.

As part of the Festival, the Library opened the first ever Big Sky short story competition in April. With great pleasure – the Library have announced the shortlisted winners for the competition. They are as follows:

  • Erin Middleton
  • Monica Puccetti
  • Lorraine Lambert
  • Maria Flavel
  • James McKinnon Byers

The winner, runner-up and highly commended entries will be announced at the Festival opening night on Thursday 1 October from 6pm-8pm at the Geraldton Regional Library.
