Battle of the Bands registrations now open

Grab your instruments and get ready to ROCK because Battle of the Bands is making a comeback in 2018!

Registrations for both individuals as well as bands are now open for up-and-coming musos who want to show what they are made of on the big stage.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn was pumped to announce the return of the initiative.

“Battle of the Bands had a huge reception from the community last year, so it made sense to bring it back in 2018,” he mused.

“The quality of last years’ contestants was phenomenal, even more so when you know that many of the acts had only formed a few months prior.

“This was made possible by providing a space at the PCYC for individual musicians newly formed into bands to come together and jam in the lead up to the battle, and we’re pleased that will be the case once again.”

The fully renovated studio has received a facelift and is now fully equipped with digital recording facilities, instruments and hardware.

Those artists who are signing up as individuals are strongly encouraged to attend a special meeting at the PCYC on Monday 16 July from 3pm onward to get acquainted with fellow hopefuls and form groups.

The space will be open and available to use for Battle of the Bands entrants every Monday and Wednesday from 3pm at no charge. Professional musicians will also be on hand to mentor participants.

Places are limited so anyone interested is encouraged to register their interest as soon as possible. Established bands are also welcome to enter the competition for their shot at glory.

The clash will take place on Sunday 28 October at the QPT Amphitheatre. More details, including prizes, will be announced in the near future.

Registration forms for both individuals and established bands can be found on the City’s website at cgg.wa.gov.au. For more information contact Peter Treharne on 9956 6600.
