Community members will be able to pay tribute to those who served in the defence of our nation this ANZAC Day.
In collaboration with the RSL Geraldton City Sub-Branch, the City of Greater Geraldton will host ANZAC Day Commemorative Services at Birdwood House on Saturday 25 April.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said ANZAC Day is an emotive occasion for the community to come together in remembrance.
“ANZAC Day holds a profound place in our national story and in the hearts of Australians,” he said.
“It is a time to reflect on the service and sacrifice of those who have defended our nation and the freedoms we enjoy today.
“I encourage community members to attend the services and join us in honouring the men and women who have served our country to protect the values we hold dear.”
The Dawn Service will begin at 6am and the Civic Service will follow at 11am.
At the Civic Service, a wreath-laying ceremony will be preceded by the traditional March, which commences at Dome Café at 10.40am and continues along Forrest Street before finishing at Birdwood House.
An ANZAC Day Service will also be held in Mullewa, commencing with a free breakfast taking place at 7.30am. This will be followed by a March leading into the Service at 11am and morning tea.
Walkaway will also be holding a Dawn ANZAC Day Service and wreath-laying ceremony at 6am at the Walkaway Station Museum followed by a community breakfast at the Walkaway Public Hall.
For wreath laying enquiries contact the City via events@cgg.wa.gov.au and for all service enquiries contact the RSL by emailing president@geraldtonrsl.org.au.
