Fraser Gregory Playground reopens

The City of Greater Geraldton wishes to advise that Fraser Gregory Playground in Beachlands has reopened.
Following advice from the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) that an isolated, low-level detection of thallium had been identified in the playground's soft-fall sand, the City temporarily closed the playground as a precaution.
The original sand has now been removed, the site has been pressure washed and new sand installed.
Department of Health advice has confirmed that the detected thallium did not pose a health risk to children or other users of the playground.
Additional information about the thallium testing is publicly available on the DWER Environment WAtch website.
The City appreciates the community's patience while these works were being completed.
