A more inclusive entertainment offering is now available at Queens Park Theatre (QPT) following the completion of new accessible seating to welcome more patrons of all abilities.

Delivered as part of a $200,000 investment in accessibility improvements, the new seating arrangement increases overall capacity to allow up to eight attendees using wheelchairs to sit alongside their companions.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said the upgrades benefit all theatregoers.

“QPT is one of our region’s most important cultural venues and these improvements ensure more people can appreciate what it has to offer,” he said.

“We listened to our patrons and delivered outcomes that both align with our Access and Inclusion Plan and make a real difference to how people enjoy shows.

“By supporting audience inclusivity, we enhance the overall experience for everyone.”

These improvements directly support the City’s Access and Inclusion Plan 2024–2029, which commits to removing barriers and ensuring people of all abilities can access, participate in and enjoy community facilities, programs and services.

The introduction of additional accessible seating at QPT is the latest development from a capital upgrades program that includes the installation of ramps to the lower foyer doors, improved accessibility signage and upgraded handrails.

Further accessibility signage to support navigation within the venue is scheduled for installation in the coming weeks.

Ongoing access and inclusion advancements aligns with the Connected theme of the City’s Strategic Community Plan, which reflects the organisation’s commitment to a community where everyone feels included.
