Upgrades to streetlight poles along Marine Terrace will soon get underway to help keep the CBD bright and welcoming.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said the replacements were essential for community safety in one of the City’s busiest areas.
“Marine Terrace is one of our most iconic and beloved shopping precincts and replacing these ageing poles is critical to maintaining a safe and functional space for everyone,” he said.
“We understand projects like these can be inconvenient which is why the works will be delivered in stages to minimise disruptions for businesses, residents and visitors.
“By carefully scheduling the works and preserving driver and pedestrian access throughout, we’re able to deliver this important renewal project while keeping the CBD moving.”
A total of 15 streetlight poles between Durlacher Street and Cathedral Avenue have reached their end of life and will be replaced, with construction commencing on Tuesday 2 June 2026.
The four-week project will be delivered in three stages, with construction taking place from 6am to 2pm, Monday to Friday.
Marine Terrace will remain open to traffic, with temporary parking closures within active work zones shifting daily as works progress. Pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained at all times.
The $225,000 Marine Terrace Streetlight Pole Replacement Project is fully funded through the City’s asset renewals program.

This project aligns with the Liveable theme of the City’s Strategic Community Plan which reflects the organisation’s commitment to providing safe and inviting public spaces.
