Landowners dealing with wild rabbits on their properties can learn control techniques at two free Wild Rabbit Control Workshops being offered by the City of Greater Geraldton.

The workshops will provide practical guidance on managing feral rabbits in rural and semi‑rural areas, with information tailored to local conditions.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune is encouraging landowners to get involved.

“Wild rabbits can cause serious environmental damage if left unmanaged, so it’s important to keep their numbers under control,” he said.

“These workshops will offer practical advice on control methods, the best timing for action, landowners’ responsibilities under the Biosecurity and Agriculture Management Act 2007, and the importance of working together to achieve long‑term results.”

Workshop presenters include Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and the City of Greater Geraldton’s Environment and Sustainability Team. An industry expert will also be on hand to answer questions.

Community members interested in reducing rabbit populations on their land are welcome to attend one of the following workshops.

  • Workshop 1: Thursday 29 January 2026 from 5pm-6pm at the Waggrakine Community Hall on Hackett Road
  • Workshop 2: Friday 30 January 2026 from 5pm-6pm at the Walkaway Community Hall on Padbury Road.

Light refreshments will be served.

RSVPs are essential. Call 9956 6600 or register online here.

These workshops align with the Liveable theme in the City’s Strategic Community Plan 2025 – 2035, Your Voice – Our Future and reflects the organisation’s commitment to managing and protecting the natural environment.
