A healthier and more connected community has taken centre stage in the City of Greater Geraldton’s first ever public health plan.
Recently adopted by Council, Living Well in Greater Geraldton – Wellbeing Plan, aims to improve health outcomes by targeting factors that improve wellbeing and will help shape a healthier community.
Through meaningful engagement with the community and key stakeholders, the Plan will strengthen collaboration across sectors, align local initiatives with State Government objectives and embed health considerations into everyday decision making.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said the Wellbeing Plan responds to the community’s needs and priorities.
“Extensive community engagement was undertaken to identify the key health priorities that influence wellbeing along with the actions needed to create a healthier, more connected community,” he said.
“I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to engage with us to build this important Plan which will have a significant impact on community wellbeing now and into the future.
“We look forward to continuing this collaboration with our partners to deliver practical initiatives that support healthier lifestyles, strengthen social connections and enhance quality of life across Greater Geraldton.”
Developed to meet State public health requirements, the Wellbeing Plan’s implementation will focus on preventative health initiatives, community engagement and creating environments that support physical, mental and social wellbeing.
