Options for foodies in Geraldton just got a whole lot better with the City of Greater Geraldton supporting two new food van ventures.

Some Geraldton suburbs are showcasing new food options with local businesses Remi French Street Food and Sweet Olive being approved for allocated areas to run their business.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said the food vans had already been a hit with locals.

“We know our community love the local food scene, so it’s great to see these businesses getting out to some different locations and offering up diverse options,” he said.

“Council continues to support local business and we are always encouraging new ventures here in Geraldton.

“The beauty of food vans is their flexibility to move around easily without having to set up permanent spaces or buildings.

“We hope the community will also support these small businesses to help keep them open and running,” he added.

Both businesses started opening up to various suburbs in Geraldton in the last two months and have received rave reviews.

Remi French Street Food has been offering up authentic French cuisine with recipes straight from France, and owner Rémi Bachere said his customers love it.

“As we can’t travel at the moment, we are bringing the taste of France right here to Geraldton,” he said.

“We love our mobile food van because it allows us to be on the move and go where people are such as at different events and functions.

“We’ve really tried to cater and adapt to our customers, so we are always listening, updating our menu and making changes.”

The City approved the two food vans and their proposed stops under the ‘Mobile and Itinerant Venors Local Planning Policy’.

Remi French Street Food trades from 8am till 12pm on Friday at St Georges Beach in Bluff Point, Saturdays at Sunset IGA and Sundays at the Platform Markets.

Sweet Olive offers up decadent sweet treats and café-style food, and trades at Bellimos Park in Wandina on Saturdays from 7:30 to 11:30am.
