Geraldton’s Community Nursery has received a green thumbs up following significant improvements to the beloved facility.

A fresh coat of paint, upgraded lighting, new cooling fans, additional water points and a newly installed sink have transformed the Nursery into a more comfortable and efficient workspace for its dedicated volunteers.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said the upgrades will create a more pleasant and practical workspace for the team as they head into the busy propagation season.

“Engagement for our Strategic Community Plan highlighted the importance our community places in greening our City,” he said.

“These enhancements will go a long way in enabling our volunteers to grow the thousands of native species that are then planted throughout our region.

“I would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who continues to give their time, expertise, and enthusiasm to our Nursery, your efforts make a real difference to our community.”

This year, up to 25,000 plants are expected to be grown for natural areas, coastal restoration projects, and the City’s 2026 Street Tree Program.

This project aligns with the Liveable theme of the City’s Strategic Community Plan which reflects the organisation’s commitment to prioritising greening the City’s streetscapes and public spaces.
