City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said the exhibitions celebrate the power of art to connect and share stories from across the nation.

“These captivating exhibitions reinforce our Gallery’s position as the leading cultural destination in the Midwest,” he said.

“The Janet Holmes à Court Collection is one of the most significant private art collections in Australia, and it’s a privilege to share part of it with local art lovers.

“This exhibition gives audiences the chance to experience exceptional works and develop a deeper appreciation for textiles as an engaging storytelling medium.

Clay on Country allows audiences to connect with the experiences of artists from Central Australia through ceramics and encourages reflection on our shared histories and diverse cultures,” finished Mayor Clune.

Following the opening night, co-curator Briony Bray will host a Curator Talk on Saturday 7 February from 10-11am at GRAG, providing insight into the ideas and themes behind Textiles of the Janet Holmes à Court Collection.
