Works to complete the long-anticipated CCTV revamp throughout the City of Greater Geraldton are well underway, with the project sitting at 58% completion.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn offered an insight into how the project is progressing.

“Like everyone in the Midwest, this project is not immune to supply chain constraints caused by COVID-19 and the flooding in South Australia,” he said.

“However, 47 out of 57 cameras have already been replaced or upgraded and it is expected the upgraded system will come online in March.

“This is a credit to the local company we are working with to deliver this project; it pays to shop local!”

The CCTV upgrades will improve safety in the CBD by replacing ageing infrastructure with reliable and resilient hardware.

The upgraded system also features vandalism resistant cameras and infrastructure that will be better placed in locations where they are less likely to be affected by water and weather.

Local business Incite Security have been contracted to complete the works.
